No Time Off for Aerospace Lubricants
Key to our everyday lives, satellites must operate around the clock in a harsh and extreme environment. Whether sending signals to your TV, tracking thunderstorms in Oklahoma, guiding your car to an out of town restaurant, or gathering images from the Middle East, the continual and precise operation of satellites is indispensable. Keeping a billion dollar satellite in operation is a thin layer of lubricant, and in many cases, a Nye aerospace lubricant.
Test Before You Launch
The ADVT lab is currently focusing on two different types of testing targeting Component Testing/ Simulation and Applied Mechanics. Nye’s application testing services can provide you with data to help qualify your design for a successful mission. Life, contamination, and compatibility testing using standard and custom test apparatus are a few of the ways Nye’s engineers can assist in validating your design. To learn more about our standard and custom testing capabilities for the Aerospace Industry, download our Test Before You Launch brochure.
Nye's Journey to Space
Nye aerospace lubricants have orbited around the Earth and visited the Martian planet. For over 50 years, we have been involved with NASA designing and testing lubricants for applications that must survive the extreme conditions of the space environment. Our Lubricants in Space video demonstrates where our lubricants are located on the International Space Station, Mars Rover Curiosity and satellites orbiting around Earth, amongst many others. Watch our video to see which lubricants are taking off with the next-generation of spacecraft.
The Science Guy and Nye
At this year's Space Tech Expo, Nye's Senior Engineer Bill Galary and Nye's Regional Engineering Manager Bob Hoffman were interviewed by the Planetary Society for a segment on their radio show. Mat Kaplan, the show’s host, was drawn to our booth at the Expo because of the Planetary Society’s CEO, Bill Nye the Science Guy. As discussed in the radio segment, Subcontractors: Making Space Happen, Bill Nye is a direct descendant of our founder’s brother. During Bob and Bill’s interview, they discuss how a small company like Nye can supply the Aerospace Industry's leading companies, like Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Honeywell.
