George Mock III, President of Nye Lubricants, Retires
George Mock III has retired as President of Nye Lubricants after nearly 40 years of working at the company. Nye Lubricants has been a Southcoast institution since its founding in 1844 at the height of the whaling industry. George started at Nye in 1986 holding various positions in information technology, product development, operations and marketing before taking over the role of President from his father, George Mock Jr, in 2000. Now a company that employs nearly 200 people, George was one of Nye Lubricants’ earliest employees.

“It’s been a fantastic journey, bringing lubricant technology to critical applications in industry, from medical equipment and automotive components to semiconductor manufacturing and satellites. It’s been a team effort throughout, and I thank the entire Nye team, past and present, for their dedication, tenacity, and good work,” said Mock.
Nye Lubricants had been a family-owned business and run by the Mock family for three generations before it was acquired by the FUCHS Group in 2020. Founded in 1931 as a family business in Mannheim, FUCHS is now the world's largest independent supplier of innovative lubrication solutions, covering almost every industry and application. “George and his family have left an invaluable legacy at Nye due in large part to George’s guidance and leadership. We plan to keep the spirit of the business alive as Nye continues to become integrated within the FUCHS organization,” says Keith Brewer, CEO of FUCHS Lubricants Co.
