Product Packaging
Nye offers a wide range of standard packaging options, which include containers for oils, dispersions, greases, and packaging designed for both manual and automated dispensing systems. Private-labeling and custom-designed packaging services are also available.
Which Dispensing Option is Right For You?
Your method of dispension will help determine the most appropriate packaging option for your operations. The number of parts to be lubricated usually dictates how the lubricant is applied. For small volumes, grease can be applied by hand with a brush, syringe or other mechanical device. An oil or dispersion can be manually sprayed onto the parts or the parts can be hand dipped into the lubricant. Automated dispensing systems are recommended for larger-volume production lines.
Hand-Held Grease Dispensers
Hand-held grease dispensers include polypropylene jars, pipettes, polyethylene squeeze tubes, plastic syringes, blister packs, and fiberboard or plastic grease-gun cartridges.
Applicator-Cap Glass Bottles
Applicator-cap glass bottles offer a convenient method for touch-up or for applying a small amount of lubricant dispersion. Brush-caps, felt-tip caps, and swabs are among the more popular styles.
Spray-On Applicators
Spray-on applicators are usually aerosol cans. Aerosols provide an easy way to apply oil solutions, grease dispersions, and dry film lubricants.
Oil Dispensers
Oil dispensers include dispenser-tip vials, small bottles, and precision oilers. Vials and bottles provide an economical way to apply small amounts of synthetic oil. They are often private-labeled and included in field service kits or sold by a manufacturer for product maintenance by the end-user. Precision oilers use narrow gauge needles to dispense small amounts of oil into tight spaces.
Automated grease dispensing containers include EFD™ plastic cartridges and syringes, pre-filled with the synthetic grease you need. Pre-filled cartridges and syringes eliminate the tedious task of filling these containers by hand in the factory. Vacuum-centrifuged, they also minimize production-line problems associated with entrained air.
Nye’s Packaging Options
Nye offers a variety of small and large standard packaging options for oils and greases. Choosing a standard packaging container will not only be your most cost-effective option, but it will also reduce the lead time for production.
To meet your needs, Nye can package lubricants in a variety of small, convenient, application-specific dispensers. Our small packaging options include glass and plastic pottles, jars, tubes, pipettes, syringes, and cartridges.
Glass Bottles
Nye packages various types of oils in glass bottles. Our glass bottles are amber in color to prevent UV light from potentially affecting the properties of the lubricant inside. These bottles are used when the purity of the material is a concern. Nye also offers ultra clean glass bottles that are used to package oils processed in our certified clean rooms.
Plastic Bottles
Nye uses plastic bottles to hold a variety of its oil products. Nye’s plastic bottles are lightweight and made out of highdensity polyethylene (HDPE) to ensure robustness. They have a linerless, leak proof natural cap. Plastic bottles are the preferred small packaging option for oils, unless glass is required.
Jars
Made of polypropylene, jars are used to package greases. Each jar has a straight-sided wide mouth opening. Our jars are tamper-proof, as they are sealed using an induction sealer. Lubricants in jars are usually dispensed manually.
Tubes
Nye offers tubes to package greases that do not have extreme viscosities. When sealed, the product lot number is crimped onto the tube. Our high density polyethylene tubes have an applicator tip, 0.06 inch open orifice, and bullet cap (except the 100g tube with a closed orifice and a caulk tip). Tubes are used for manual dispensing and can be part of a lubricant kit.
Pipettes
Small quantities of grease can be stored in a pipette. Made of polyethylene, a pipette is primarily found in repair kits for manual dispensing.
Syringes
Syringes dispense precise grease amounts. Our white syringe is exclusively used for manual dispensing, while our clear syringes are more frequently used for automatic dispensing. The 5 and 30cc clear syringes can also be used for manual dispensing by adding a plunger (upon request).
Cartridges
The primary function of cartridges is automated grease dispensing. The fiber cartridge requires a grease gun in order to dispense the product
Nye offers pails, kegs and drums for automated dispensing.
Pails
Pails can contain oils or greases. Oil pails have a flex spout for easy dispensing. 7lb pails are made of 24 gauge steel and are tall and straight-sided. They are open-headed with a handle and blue crimp cover. 35lb pails are made from high density polyethylene. They are straight-sided, open-headed pails with a handle and blue snap-on cover. Our grease pails can be used for manual or automated dispensing using a follower plate.
Kegs
Kegs exclusively store grease. Nye kegs are made from heavy duty steel. They are straight-sided, open-headed, and phenolic lined. They contain a blue ring and bolt cover. Grease kegs can be used for manual or automated dispensing.
Drums
Drums can package both oil and grease. Made of steel, they 88.90 cm H x 60.33 cm W are straight-sided, open-headed drums with a blue ring and bolt steel cover. Our oil drums contain a flex spout for easy dispensing, while our grease drums can be used for manual or automated dispensing.
