Nye Lubricants Learning Labs

This past September, an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place for the grand opening of the Wattles Jacobs Education Center at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. The new Center enhances the Museum’s meaningful, out-of-the-classroom experience for students and educators. Nye Lubricants, Inc. is a major benefactor of the Wattles Jacobs Education Center, and our President, George Mock, was the Center’s Capital Campaign Co-Chair. George is also a member of the Museum’s board of trustees.

After 2 years of construction, the Museum opened its doors to the new 20,000 square foot addition that features a Research Library and Reading Room, an International Gallery and the Nye Lubricants Learning Labs. The two classrooms that comprise the Nye Learning Labs will host over 16,000 participants annually. Equipped with the latest classroom technology, the labs will engage students in comprehensive, content-rich, experiential and visually stimulating learning programs. The Learning Labs will offer New Bedford youth a chance to expand their studies in science, conservation and history.
