Penyffordd Beaver Scouts

On a recent visit to our channel partner across the pond, Newgate Simms, Jay Weikel, Nye’s European Engineering and Business Development Manager, was asked to present to the Penyffordd Beaver Scouts, a junior scout group near Chester in the United Kingdon. The Beaver Leaders are 6-8 year old scouts, both boys and girls, who focus on learning adventure, teamwork, outdoor and world skills. The Beavers work through a similar badge system to that of our own Boy Scouts of America organization, completing a series of badges on their journey to earn the Chief Scout Bronze Award, the highest achievement for the Scouts. They also participate in similar community building activities that Boy Scouts partake in that are both educational and enjoyable.

Jay discussed his own experience in the Boy Scouts organization, as he has been an Eagle Scout and member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years. He spoke about the guidance the program provides and the opportunities it gives youth. Overall, it was a great experience for Jay to share his stories and answer questions from the Beaver Scouts!
