Smooth Riding with Damping Greases

In a motorcycle, a smooth start/stop transition is a requirement for most riders. An over responsive, sensitive throttle that snaps back or makes spasmodic movements can irritate or even distract the rider. A new customer found that making precise adjustments is achievable in sensitive equipment with the use of a Nye damping grease.

Peter Wilks from Newgate Simms, Nye’s British Channel Partner, recently had a motorcycle owner approach him with a sensitive throttle issue. The owner was disappointed with the “jerky throttle response.” Peter recommended NyoGel® 774VH, a very heavy viscosity, synthetic hydrocarbon damping grease, to give the twist grip a more controlled motion. After a trial ride, the owner was pleased with the accuracy and smoothness of the throttle response. He said, “The results were amazing. My first ride was so smooth, the "rocking horse" has left the stable.”

The addition of a damping grease can improve functionality, reliability and longevity in throttle applications. NyoGel® 774VH was designed to dampen free motion in mechanical components, such as hand-operated devices. This heavy viscosity grease reduces vibration, thereby eliminating annoying tactile sensations. It also exhibits good water resistance, and minimizes friction and wear.
